About the Tournament
My name is Cale Balusek, a varsity tennis player at Flower Mound High School and the founder of the Love Babies Tennis Tournament. I started this tournament as a way to raise funds to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baylor Scott and White Health in Grapevine, TX. I was born at this hospital in 2001, two-and-a-half months early, weighing only 2 pounds. I was an identical twin, and my brother Caden unfortunately passed away before we were born. I was born with two holes in my heart, had Hypothyroidism, and was diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease. The nurses and doctors at the Baylor Scott and White NICU took care of me and saved my life.
I wanted to find a way to repay the hospital for all that they did for me. 100% of the net proceeds from this tournament and all donations go to the NICU at Baylor Scott and White Health to fund equipment and supplies that help other premature babies survive and thrive.
In 2017, during its inaugural year, the Love Babies Tournament was able to raise $7,800! These funds were used to purchase special x-ray equipment designed to take images of newborns without having to wake or move them.
The 2018 Tournament was a HUGE success, raising $16,500! In December of 2018, we proudly presented a check to Baylor Hospital in Grapevine in the NICU. The funds were used to purchase specialized recliners for parents of preemies that allow them to hold their babies and bond with them while in the NICU.
In 2019, we raised $24,200, making this year's tournament the biggest and best YET! The funds are going towards the purchase of an advanced robotic training preemie! Thank you for helping us to support the families of premature babies and the wonderful doctors and nurses that care for them every day.
